KWN Fayette Branch Meeting – June 16
Kentucky Politics & Journalism
You don’t want to miss our June 16th meeting when Al Cross will be joining us to discuss Kentucky Primary results, other candidate announcements, and issues facing Democrats and progressives today. He will also talk about the current state of journalism and where people are getting their news. He will be happy to answer questions and give you his informed opinions. Al is a retired professor emeritus of journalism at the University of Kentucky School of Journalism. He was the longest-serving political writer for the Louisville Courier Journal (1989-2004) and national president of the Society of Professional Journalists in 2001-02. He was inducted into the Kentucky Journalism Hall of Fame in 2010. He is often a commentator on KET, and you can read his articles in the Kentucky Lantern.
In addition, Blair Haydon, executive director of Emerge Kentucky, will update us on how this organization recruits, trains, and provides a network for Democratic women who want to run for office. Also, Tina Bryson will speak briefly about her candidacy for 6th District City Council.
