KWN Fayette Branch September 15 meeting

September 15 @ 6:30 am8:00 pm

Addressing Homelessness in Our Community

Addressing Homelessness: The federally mandated one-night count recorded 925 unhoused individuals in Lexington. More comprehensive street surveys, such as those by the Catholic Action Center alongside the Street Voice Council, indicate that the broader seasonal and situational unhoused population can surpass 3,000 individuals when factoring in root causes and hidden homelessness. Join us at our September 15th meeting to learn how Lexington is addressing the need to provide shelter, food, employment, and housing for these individuals from Jeffrey Herron, Homelessness Prevention Manager. Councilperson Liz Sheehan will provide us with an update on the Task Force on Homesslessness, which is conducting a focused review of the city’s emergency shelter system and programming and providing formal recommendations to the Mayor regarding strategic next steps.

Meet the Candidates: Three at-large candidates for city council also speak briefly. They are: James Brown, Herbert Lynn, and Dan Wu. This is a great opportunity to get to meet them and learn know more about their priorities.
